Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps formed from the old English game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for sure the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard amid a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.
Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French relocated south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically.
