Be a Master of Craps – Pointers and Strategies: The History of Craps
Be cunning, play brilliant, and master craps the correct way!
Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps developed from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s believed that Sir William’s soldiers bet on Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French relocated south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is acquired from the term for the bad luck toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and across the country. Most think the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he designed the boxes for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
